Marietta Abraham, MD – Medical Director

Dr. Abraham is the Medical Director at the Grayslake MCL location. She has been with Premise Health for 12 years. She is a Board-certified Family Physician in practice for over 20 years. She graduated from PSG Institute of Medical Science and Research in 1999. She did her Internship and Residency training at Advocate Christ Medical Center.

 

Patient Care Philosophy:

I appreciate the time to connect with each patient one and one and build a relationship where shared clinical decision-making is at the core. While I have the knowledge and expertise to drive decisions, I understand that it is only with a committed patient that the desired outcome can be achieved. I look forward to developing a rapport built on trust and know that I will lead a patient to options that will serve them best.

 

How I stay well:

I have been active in the cross-fit community for over 9 years. I enjoy traveling, most recently in 2023 to Dubai, S. Africa & Alaska to see the Northern Lights and locally spending time walking/running with our dog Reyna. I have lived in the Lake County area for 15 years with my husband and 2 children.

Karen Anne Violago, FNP-C – Nurse Practitioner

Karen Anne Violago is a Nurse Practitioner at the MCL Health Center in Grayslake. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree at the University of Santo Tomas in Manila, Philippines, and later earned her Master of Science degree, majoring in Family Nurse Practitioner at Carlow University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She holds a national certification with the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. Over the years, Karen has clinical experience as a Nurse Practitioner in Primary Care and Occupational Health. As a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner, she can manage patients of all ages with acute ailments and chronic conditions.


Patient Care Philosophy:

Karen is passionate about developing caring relationships with her patients based on mutual trust to promote overall health and well-being. She believes that the best way to provide high-quality patient care is to acknowledge each patient’s individuality. Her philosophy is that each day is an opportunity to positively impact a patient’s life. “My goal is to educate patients on how to change their lives to become healthy, make informed decisions, and achieve their goals.”


How I stay well:

To stay well, Karen enjoys attending spin class and walking outdoors. She loves traveling with her husband and experiencing different cuisines.

Janet Hilgenberg, LCSW – Licensed Clinical Social Worker

Janet grew up in the Northwest suburbs of Chicago. She obtained a bachelor’s in psychology with a minor in philosophy. She later obtained a master’s in social work from the University of Illinois-Chicago with a focus on mental health in 2013.  Janet’s background and expertise began in working in Early Intervention with children and their families and expanded to working with adults in community health centers providing outpatient behavioral health therapy in collaboration with patient’s medical teams to provide holistic care for individuals.  

Janet has extensive training working with individuals with anxiety, depression, family conflict, bicultural individuals, and trauma. She uses various forms of evidenced-based therapies including EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Family systems, harm reduction, and Motivational interviewing. Janet is Bilingual in Spanish and bicultural.  

 

Patient Care Philosophy: 

Janet believes that therapy is a collaborative endeavor, providing a safe and empathic environment. She is passionate about working with individuals to reach their full potential and be the best version of themselves. She believes that there is potential in everyone and helps guide and support individuals to identify their goals and help to reach them. 

 

How I stay well: 

I try to stay well by getting some type of movement or exercise and sun in my day whenever possible. I enjoy spending time with people who “fill my cup” including my family and friends. I try to find things that make me laugh daily whether that’s a call from a friend or a silly meme.   

Kaylie Holderness MSN, MBA, RN – Health Center Manager

Kaylie Holderness is the Health Center Manager at the MCL Grayslake location, holding a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Olivet Nazarene University and a Master of Science in Nursing with a focus on nursing leadership from Bradley University, along with a Master of Business Administration with a focus on healthcare administration from Olivet Nazarene University. She has extensive experience in the healthcare field, having worked as a bedside nurse, charge nurse, nurse manager, and director of nursing in a hospital setting, allowing her to effectively combine clinical expertise with administrative skills in her current managerial role.

 

Patient Care Philosophy: 

As a nurse leader, Kaylie Holderness emphasizes that intentional listening is fundamental to patient care. She believes that being present and making connections are essential for understanding each patient’s concerns, goals, and needs. Throughout her leadership journey, she has recognized that this philosophy also applies to her employees. By leading by example and ensuring that her team feels valued and heard, Kaylie fosters a culture where these behaviors naturally extend to patient interactions, ultimately enhancing the overall quality of care 

 

How I stay well: 

Kaylie stays well by engaging in activities that bring her joy and fulfillment. Her favorite hobby is reading. An avid traveler, she loves discovering new cultures and often goes scuba diving to explore vibrant underwater worlds. With her adventurous spirit, Kaylie also enjoys horseback riding, embracing the beauty of the outdoors. 

James Rabbitt, PT – Physical Therapist

James has practiced as a licensed physical therapist in Illinois for 20 years, providing exceptional care to patients in Chicago and the surrounding communities. He earned his master’s degree in physical therapy in 2005 from Central Michigan University and has completed multiple continuing education courses since that time to deliver state-of-the-art and evidenced based treatment to his patients. James is qualified to work with all types of orthopedic conditions and has advanced training in shoulder and knee pathology and neck / back pain. He incorporates several advanced rehabilitation techniques into his practice including advanced strength programming, Pilates/ yoga, and blood flow restriction training; he is also Graston certified for treatment of soft tissue injuries. Through these methods he strives to optimize mobility, relieve pain, and enhance overall well-being to assist his patients in their recovery.

Patient Care Philosophy:

James believes that every patient has a unique presentation and requires a unique plan of care to address their issues effectively. His approach encompasses a total body assessment focused on treating the root causes rather than just managing symptoms. In addition to physical rehabilitation, he routinely discusses lifestyle factors and nutrition with his patients in an effort to help them achieve their lifestyle goals and resolve their pain.

How I Stay Well:
James manages his wellness by walking outdoors as much as possible with his family and his 2 dogs, Indiana and Shorty, in the Lake Country Forest Preserves. He also enjoys softball, golf, and is an avid weightlifter and distance runner in his free time.

Dr. Patrick Morris, DC – Chiropractic Physician

Dr. Patrick Morris is a Board-Certified Chiropractic Physician with over 25 years of experience providing exceptional care to patients in the Northwestern Chicago area. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Human Anatomy and Doctor of Chiropractic degree from the National College of Chiropractic in 1997. Dr. Morris is dedicated to delivering state-of-the-art chiropractic treatments tailored to each patient’s unique needs.
His expertise extends beyond traditional chiropractic care, incorporating advanced techniques such as Acupuncture, Flexion Distraction, Spinal Decompression, the Activator Method, and the McKenzie Method for rehabilitation. Through these modalities, he strives to optimize mobility, relieve pain, and enhance overall well-being.

How I Stay Well:
Dr. Morris maintains his own well-being through an active lifestyle. As an avid runner and ultramarathon enthusiast, he enjoys hitting the trails with his two Huskies. He also finds balance through hiking, gardening, and traveling with his family—always seeking new adventures and opportunities to explore the world around him.
